As Certified Emergency Care Instructors, SportSide Medical trains and certifies Emergency First Responders (EFRs) through the Canadian Red Cross. Certified trainers are then placed with teams for a season or contracted on a game-by-game basis. SportSide Medical only places medical personnel and trainers that complete the certification process outlined below:

 

 

Certification Process:

 

• Prerequisite: Standard First Aid & CPR/AED or Health Care Professional designation

• Successful Completion: 40 hour Emergency First Responder course (see our “Courses Page” for more detailed information) 

• Successful Completion: standardized written & practical exam

• Vulnerable Sector Screening completion

• Shadowing and experience with an experienced EFR/EMR

• Athletic & clinical taping training
